    1) Annual Meeting of the Japanese Ophthalmological Society (every spring)
    2) Annual Congress of Japan Clinical Ophthalmology (in partnership with the Japan Ophthalmologists Association, in the autumn)

    1) Journal of Japanese Ophthalmological Society (monthly)
    2) Japanese Journal of Ophthalmology (bimonthly, in English)
    3) Japanese-English Ophthalmology Terminology Handbook
  3. Fostering and advancing Ophthalmology
    1) Bestow the Japanese Ophthalmological Society Award (to a special lecturer of the Annual Meeting of the Japanese Ophthalmological Society)
    2) Bestow the Japanese Ophthalmological Society Young Investigator Award (to a researcher 40 years or under)
  4. Research/investigation of ocular diseases
  5. Holding public lectures
  6. Communicating and collaborating with related academic societies both at home and abroad
  7. Certifying diplomates of ophthalmology and other matters
    1) Conducting board examinations and giving a diploma of ophthalmology
    2) Recognizing the renewal of a diplomate's qualification
    3) Approval of lifelong educational activity and training facilities
  8. Promoting the lifelong education of diplomates
    1) Publishing correspondence course materials for diplomates
    2) Holding training courses for diplomates (twice a year)
    3) Holding training course in the eight blocks throughout Japan (in partnership with the Japan Ophthalmologists Association)
  9. Promoting the activities relating to organ transplantation
  10. Other activities to achieve the goal
